Rendezvous

It is one thing to be aware of God and to have knowledge of His power and work. It is quite another to intentionally walk into His presence.

Though I run to meet Him with expectation, His presence causes me to slow and then stop. Stillness. I bow before His glory. The transition between the world and His presence is unmistakable. Time and space become inconsequential; there is no worry or fear. My senses become hypersensitive: sight is crisper, scents are sweeter, sound is soothing, taste is richer, and touch is deeper penetrating flesh to spirit. I come only for Him because in Him I find renewal, strength, and peace. He is my rest. He is my rendezvous.

Psalm 63:1-6

O God, you are my God,
       earnestly I seek you;
       my soul thirsts for you,
       my body longs for you,
       in a dry and weary land
       where there is no water.

I have seen you in the sanctuary

and beheld your power and your glory.

Because your love is better than life,

my lips will glorify you.

I will praise you as long as I live,

and in your name I will lift up my hands.

My soul will be satisfied as with the richest of foods;

with singing lips my mouth will praise you.

On my bed I remember you;

I think of you through the watches of the night.

Psalm 62:1-2

My soul finds rest in God alone;
       my salvation comes from him.

He alone is my rock and my salvation;

he is my fortress, I will never be shaken.

The Escort

I was walking this evening during my favorite time. It is the in between time, the time between day and night. It is a time for Godly romance. As I walked, I pondered where I was spiritually. Am I at His front door or is He at mine? Am I knocking or is He? The door opened and there we stood, eyes locked at the threshold. Filled with joy, I realized where we were. We were at the temple entrance. He came to meet me there for only He can escort me inside. Together we entered His presence.

The next chapter of my life is beginning. There is no fear and there is no doubt. Though the path is unknown and danger may lurk, one thing is certain. I am not alone. I have an escort. Together we walk in His presence.

Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me. Revelation 3:20
